From discarded knit goods to your custom blanket. Every Throwies product follows a 5-step journey that turns waste into warmth — with zero dyes, zero inks, and zero shortcuts.
Collected
Post-consumer knit goods — old sweaters, t-shirts, and textile scraps — are collected from recycling streams across the country. Nothing new is manufactured at this stage. It all starts with what already exists.
Sorted by Color
Collected garments are sorted by color. Because we don't dye our yarn, the natural color of the reclaimed cotton IS the color. This is how we achieve 41 distinct thread colors without a single drop of dye.
Re-Spun
Sorted cotton is shredded back into raw fiber and re-spun into new yarn. This process uses significantly less water and energy compared to producing virgin cotton yarn — and eliminates the dyeing process entirely.
Re-Knit
Your custom design is programmed into industrial knitting machines at our USA factory. Using up to 4 of our 41 recycled thread colors, your artwork is knit directly into the blanket fabric — no printing, no transfers.
Finished Simply
Each blanket is inspected, finished, and shipped directly to you. The result is a premium, custom textile made entirely from recycled materials — soft, durable, and uniquely yours.
